The museum is maintaining its longstanding tradition of provision for the self-education of adults
and the focus on children's learning established by the museum's founder Sir Jonathon Hutchinson.
Here are just some of the educational activities we offer:
School visits:
linked to the National Curriculum.
- Pre-school activities to inspire the under 5's.
- Science Week Events ( March - April ).
- Summer Term Freshwater Studies.
- Science Workshops - throughout the year.
- History Workshops for KS1 & KS2.
- Support for Secondary curriculum including study groups and homework support.
- Loan boxes are available.
Monthly junior club:
age 5-12 (1st Saturday every month).
Come and join our club and enjoy a variety of activities including:
going behind the scenes at the local fire station, learning about bees, mystery tours of the museum and hands on creative activities such as painting and collage.
School holiday workshops:
Fun packed days offering a wide selection of activities ranging from creative glass painting to playing the drums.
We also offer:
FREE family trails and quizzes all year round.
Events for young adults organised by the Youth Council.
Outreach Days - if you are unable visit us we will visit you!
