Fishes
The fish collection contains over 120 specimens from 25 different genera. Most were collected during the 1930s and 1940s from around the world and specimens include pipefish, spotted dogfish and dogfish eggs, spiny puffer fish, rainbow trout, European sturgeon, boxfish´s and sea horses.The most recent fish specimens to be added to our Natural History Collection were an adult female rainbow trout, weighting 12lb 3oz and an adult female brown trout, weighting 6lb 7oz, both from Surrey, England. Both were given in the late 1990s. The display in our natural history gallery shows old and new taxidermy styles along side each other.

Tuna Fish

The model of the Tunny fish or Tuna head (to the right) is a life-size replica, caught by T. D. Shepherd 17 miles North East by East of Scarborough on the 24th of August 1934, weighting 743 pounds. He received this certificate by the British Tunny Club to mark his achievement.
