This fascinating large ammonite is over 230 million years old and over 50cms in diameter. We also have a comprehensive range of other fossils on display. For avid star gazers we even have a genuine meteorite and for those more interested in geology closer to home we have some local geological specimens. Follow the geological timelines and see fossils from different eras. The museum also houses some personal belongings of the world renowned geologist Sir Archibald Geikie such as his tools, working notes, watercolour sketches and other personal correspondence.
