The history of Haslemere Educational Museum is woven with an extraordinary tradition of giving. It began in 1888 when renowned surgeon, scientist and educational innovator, Sir Jonathon Hutchinson invited the public to enjoy his life´s collection of objects in the field of natural and human history.
Since that time, many other philanthropic individuals have given generously which has enabled the Museum to flourish but as we strive to meet new challenges so the demands on our resources become even greater.
Today, the need for bequests and legacies to continue to enhance and preserve the Museum and its collections is vital. One of the most effective ways to support our work is to remember the Museum in your will.
Bequests help to support the care and development of the collections, improve facilities and services for visitors, provide lifelong learning opportunities from the youngest to the oldest, ensure the integrity of our Grade II listed home and strengthen our financial independence for many years to come.
Making a Will is one of the most important personal acts you will undertake and we understand that this is very much a personal matter. A bequest made in general terms offers the Museum the greatest flexibility to apply funds in the areas of urgent need. You may however wish to support a particular area of activity within the Museum such as conservation, education or acquisition.
You might also consider leaving other forms of non-monetary donations such as property, shares or other valuables that may be sold to benefit the Museum.
Letting us know that you intend to remember the Museum in your will allows us to plan ahead with greater confidence and will provide us with an opportunity to acknowledge your support now.
When making your Will it is advisable to seek professional advice to ensure you receive expert guidance tailored to your particular needs.
