Haslemere resident / blogger Catherine Eyre delves into the history of the “Peasant Artists”, a group of Arts and Crafts artisans who lived and worked in Foundry Meadow around the turn of the twentieth century, producing “Peasant Art” whilst promoting “The Simple Life”.
The book illuminates their (now largely forgotten) output and history. Their legacy lives on today in the collection of historic European Peasant Arts material they collected and bought, now housed at Haslemere Educational Museum.
