    Description:

Hand woven cotton bonnet. Interesting weave. Double cloth with floating second warp of fine worsted wool in stripes of red, pink, blue, white, green and black. Possibly Tobine weave. Basic cotton cloth square at the top forms the crown, red and white brocade weave in diamonds. Canellé,is the French term for tightly woven cloth, textured to resemble a brick wall. An extra warp floats on the surface and is bound in steps to form a brick-like effect. [Encyclopedia of furnishing, Lund Humphries].
